It just so happened that we had three field trips scheduled for this week.(the third one is tomorrow) I was ok with it since we were also able to get school done on those days. Anyway, yesterday our field trip was to a cinema for a "behind the scenes" tour. The kids got to see how all the concessions are made and even got their own bag of popcorn and a coke. The next part of the tour was very interesting. We went into the projection room and got to see how all projectors work. They had three different types. The digital ones cost around $500,000 per projector and they are in the process of switching over to all digital. The big reel films were neat to see. The theatre actually rents the movies for around $2000 per week. The guy said all of their money is made through concessions. It was a learning experience for all of us. I did not take my camera on this trip.
Today our trip was to Papa Murphy's. This is a take and bake pizza shop and if you have one in your area, I would recommend it. We love their pizza's. The girls really enjoyed getting to make pizza's. The first thing they did was watch the dough mix in the huge mixer for 10 minutes. Once the dough was ready, they were each given their own piece of dough to knead and shape into a ball. Next they ran their dough through a machine that flattened it out to almost the size of the pan. They finished shaping the dough and then got to choose any toppings they wanted. Even Lauren got to make a pizza...she loved it!! We baked the pizza's for dinner and they were very yummy!! The girls wanted Daddy to judge who's tasted better but he liked them all the same. Isn't that a nice Daddy?

The following pictures were taken today at the girls music class. I think I told you last week that their teacher took them to a pottery shop to paint. Today in class they got their finished product. Kaitlyn painted a cupcake and Karissa chose a horse to paint. They both turned out beautifully.

What neat field trips! We have a Papa Murphy's here in town but we have never tried it. We've heard great things about it too! We'll have to do that soon!
What a fun week! Why three trips in one week though? I'm curious :) Those pizzas definitely didn't look like personal pans! They looked like a good size. And the girl's pottery turned out soooo cute!
Kaitlyn's friend reminded me of a friend I had in Kindergarten. She was from Saudi Arabia I believe and didn't speak English well either. I was her "helper" and sometimes it wasn't easy. I remember feeling at a loss several times those first few months of school-trying to figure out what she needed or was saying. But I loved her.

The pizza's were medium size so we had plenty of pizza last night...in fact, we still have a whole one in the fridge. The reason for three field trips in one week is because our field trip coordinator moved and while we are waiting for a new one, anyone can schedule a field trip. It just so happened that three got scheduled for the same week. It works out ok though because we have over 80 kids in our homeschool group and a lot of places can't handle that many kids at once. This way it gives those who can't make it on one day, a chance on the next trip. Kaitlyn's friend is really sweet. The day she arrived, she and Kaitlyn became instant friends. It's really cute to watch them. They can't really talk but they have a way of expressing themselves to each other. Her dad is a foreign military exchange student here at NPS.
Looks like the girls had a great time on their field trip. Lauren especially looked pleased with her project:)
Sounds like lots of fun. The girls are getting so big.
